Bob Hicok is a poet and frequent contributor to the Indiana Review. His collection of poems Animal Soul was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. In addition, Mr. Hicok has received an NEA grant, two Pushcart awards, and he recently won the 2005 Jerome J. Shestack prize for best poems published in The American Poetry Review. His most recent collection of poems is titled Insomnia Diary and was published in 2004.

His work first appeared in the magazine in Volume 18.1, with the poem “Nurse.” This was followed by an appearance in 19.1, with the poem “Heroin.” Next was Volume 20.2, which featured the two poems “33” and “The Neighbors.” Volume 21.1 featured the poem “Magic.” Volume 23.1 featured the poem “An omnivore’s eulogy.” The poem “Late-night snack” was featured in Volume 24.2. Mr. Hicok’s most recent appearance came in Volume 26.1, which featured the poem “War story.” He has work forthcoming in IR’s Winter 2006 issue, Volume 29.1.
